Open College Data is operated by Poke Potato Inc. It republishes admissions numbers that colleges file themselves (the Common Data Set) and that the federal government publishes (IPEDS), checks them against each other, and shares the result free. It is a data site. It gives no admissions, financial or legal advice and makes no prediction about any person.
Our data and files are licensed under CC BY 4.0: use, copy, adapt and redistribute them, including commercially, with credit to Open College Data (opencollegedata.org). Third-party material shown here (a college's filing, a publisher's rank, a student's post) is not ours to license: a rank must be shown with its credit and may not be reassembled into the publisher's list; student-post summaries are not part of the licensed data or the API.
We read numbers from source documents by software and by language model, check them against IPEDS, label how each was obtained, and fix mistakes when told. Even so, numbers can be wrong, out of date or filed differently by the college. Check the original filing, linked from every page, before relying on a number for a decision. The site is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for any loss from its use.
The API and downloads are free and need no key. Please fetch whole files rather than crawling pages, cache for at least an hour, identify your tool in the User-Agent header, and do not use the site to harass, impersonate or deceive. We may rate-limit or block traffic that degrades the service.
Anyone may suggest a correction. Rights holders may ask for material to be removed: see contact and takedown.
